Beginnings.....

I should probably tell everyone a little bit about myself. My name is Zorg XII and I work in labor relations at a mid-sized company in Aberdeen, New Jersey. I'm just over 2000 years old, married to a lovely woman from Allendale, and have a beautiful daughter. I have been here long enough to get a pretty decent handle on humanity but every so often you guys totally suprise me.

Your science is pretty much in its infancy but has done a fair job explaining the natural world. Despite this, many of you hold on to archaic notions and fairy tale belief systems. Religion, alternative medicine, bigfoot, UFO's(just kidding), etc, etc. You name it, and if it is a belief with a total lack of plausibility or evidence and some, usually many, of you guys accept it as undeniable truth.

I have enough trouble getting along with people at work looking the way I do but to be honest, I think the real reason people don't like me is because I am an atheist. I explain to them that my home world is millions of light years beyond the reach of even your most powerful telescopes, and that the concept of religion is completely foreign to me, but I'm still not invited out for beers or asked to join the company softball team because I don't accept that a zombie carpenter died for my sins.

So I don't have any friends. That's really okay. I was in conscious stasis for over a century once and did just fine. Youthful transgressions you might say. But I have my wife and daughter, my books, and now this blog. I hope that this endeavor will lead to many interesting discussions with organisms like myself who question the way humans interpret their reality.
